What does Green I.T. mean to PCS?
FUEL EFFICIENCY
While PCS does have a fleet of vans and larger trucks for the delivery
of equipment, where possible, we employ our fleet of Toyota Yaris
vehicles for the delivery of small items and services to our clients.
Winner of the IntelliChoice Best Overall Value, Retained Value,
Operating Costs, Fuel Costs, Lowest Operating Costs, Lowest Fuel
Costs, and Lowest Ownership Costs, the Toyota Yaris lowers our cost to
deliver impeccable products and services to our clients, emits fewer
pollutants into the environment, and allows us to deliver value to our
clients.
And with The Highest Possible Frontal and Side-Impact Crash Test
Ratings, we’re also striving to deliver safely!
PAPER CONSUMPTION
Paper transactions? No thank you! True, PCS can deliver your invoices
to you via the U.S. Postal Service, but we’d rather not. PCS
urges customers to accept invoices and other daily transactions via
electronic delivery. More than 99 million tons of paper and paperboard
were used in the U.S. last year alone. Paper and paperboard are also
the largest component of municipal solid waste – 34% of the U.S.
waste stream!
Reducing our paper usage provides environmental and economic benefits:
• Fewer natural resources will be used for the production of
paper.
• Air and water emissions from the production of paper will be
reduced.
• Less space will be needed for the management and storage of
paper documents.
• We'll spend less to buy paper.
• We'll save on supplies and maintenance of printers and
copiers.
• We'll have less paper waste, lowering our costs for recycling
and disposal, and reducing our impacts on the municipal waste stream.
And we haven’t stopped there! PCS continually reinvests in our
processes to reduce our internal dependence on paper. From
reengineering our entire inventory and production processes to reduce
paper usage to smaller initiatives, like fax servers to eliminate fax
printing, we’re reducing our costs and paper consumption. In
fact, when we do use paper, we make every effort to separate those
items that are recyclable for shredding and reuse. Guess what? We
generate less waste to landfills!
TECHNOLOGY RECYCLING
Approximately 1 billion units of computer equipment will become
potential scrap by 2010 according to the International Association of
Electronics Recyclers. Is now the time for your company to decide how
to deal with outdated computer equipment that is currently stockpiled
in empty offices and closets? Outsourcing this responsibility to an
expert can simplify the process and ensure safe disposal of the
equipment. However, and ill-conceived asset retirement program may
expose your company to potential data security risk and environmental
liability.
With careful planning and the right partner, you can save time and
resources, while mitigating privacy risks and environmental
liabilities specific to your industry. PCS Technology Recycling has
extensive experience in managing the asset retirement programs for
small, medium, and enterprise businesses.
PCS offers technology recycling services and provides our customers
with Certificates of Disposition guaranteeing that recycled assets
never make it to a landfill. In fact, most assets are stripped of
precious assets and recycled for reuse. And hard drives are physically
ground to a granular level so data remains integrity remains intact!
In all, PCS strives to provide valuable services and products to
customers with minimal impact on the environment. The products and
services we provide are important and critical to the operations of
our customers, but we believe we are smarter than we were yesterday.
We believe that Green I.T. means we can deliver more robust products
and services for the sustainable future if we contribute to the
conservation of our resources.
